The Pressure to Perform...

a glimmer of god

we give our all or we burn to the ground...

The pressure to perform can sometimes outweigh the meaning and the depth of our destiny. We can become so obsessed with how others perceive us; to the point of procrastination and/or over-compensation.

The perception of others is not a tool to measure anything in your life, especially your success.

Growing up, fighting to be the best or at least be good enough can have a crippling affect on our conscious. It can leave us in a constant battle to please others or hyper-focus on how others receive what we have to offer.

That's no way to live, though. Measuring our success and our failures based on human response is dangerous. The underlying source in all of this is our "measuring stick."

In terms of performing or meeting other's expectations, the pressure alone can cause anyone to crumble. As a society, we are obsessed with what others think of us.

How can you fully actualize the depth of your destiny and at the same time focus on the opinions and perception of others?

The solution?

Find the root. Dig deep. Why do you care so much about how they see you? Why does it matter if they support your God-given vision? Have you considered that maybe the only people that need to be pleased are you and God? Ask yourself every question and be genuinely honest with yourself.

Once you figure it out, don't beat yourself up.

It's okay. It may not be easy but you can choose differently, daily. It may take some time and therapy to reprogram your mind but you can overcome the pressure to achieve.

Be honest. Be humble. Be free.

Peace.
